Our American Mahjong Story in South Africa
More than a game. It's about connection.
Mahjong Africa started with a personal connection to American Mahjong. Through living in the United States, regular visits, and family and friends there, we experienced first-hand the growing social culture around the game.
We loved the strategy and challenge, but even more than that, we loved what happened around the table — conversation, laughter and connection.
We wanted to bring that experience home and make it easier for people in South Africa to discover American Mahjong, learn to play, find beautiful products and connect with others through the game.

More than a game. It's about connection.
Mahjong Africa was created by two sisters with very different professional backgrounds — a food scientist and a medical doctor — and a shared love of bringing people together.

What started as our own enjoyment of American Mahjong grew into an idea: to make the game more accessible in South Africa and create a place where people can discover it, learn it, play it and share it with others.
